Houten

Halfway between Utrecht and Geldermalsen - at least, when travelling by rail - Houten is a planological masterpiece, so constructed as to minimize car traffic through living areas, presumably to keep down the number of traffic accidents. That, at any rate, is its reputation. Only having reason to visit its shopping and business area, I've never checked this myself. Neither do I care. As with most places I've been to, I've seen its station, the place where I work and the route between. Auditively speaking, I remember the church bells? organ? clanging out the most unlikely ditties and evergreens at around six o'clock, which was when I would be at the station impatiently waiting for a train to take out of this, to my eye, rather depressing, artificial place.

The train station (what else?)

Apartments.

Offices.
