Geldermalsen

Geldermalsen is at the far end of the bit o' rail running from Dordrecht to Geldermalsen, and of the one running from Utrecht to Geldermalsen; therefore, I frequently changed trains there, both to go to work and for the weekend journeys to Groningen. I believe the village lies in Gelderland, a province thought of as lush and rural. The gardens of the houses near the station, as well as the planted rectangle on the station platform itself, certainly qualify as lush. This is probably the kind of place people move to when their incomes are high enough to move to the countryside, but they don't want to live too far away from work. Despite the suggestion of life being good in Geldermalsen, the station is a bit unpleasant, attracting adolescent riffraff of the kind too often found in suburbs.

Two pictures showing all I've ever seen of Geldermalsen.
