Delft

To tourists, Delft is known as the historical origin of the porcelainware known as "Delfts blauw", reputedly of such quality that it gave rise to the expression "true blue". To me, it's just another grotty little town with a few beautiful old buildings and a lot of ugly new ones that I passed through on my way to work at a company with the much-punned-on name "Exact"; one with, I've understood from people living there, a reputation for street violence and general unpleasantness. But that's a reputation only few Dutch towns don't have. Coming out of the station to catch the bus, I used to spin on my heels for a panoramic view of the buildings around it, two of which were painted in a curious chalky tone. Some time later, I performed the same spin, with camera in hand.

The first picture is of the station's building, with a very prominent NS railway logo. The second shows a green-blue building with a white entrance structure tucked into one of its corners. The third shows a line of buildings, one of them chalk-blue. The fourth shows the line of houses behind the station.
