Episode 31: Project: Let's waste Nambu

The captain of the Masked Assassins combs out those nasty tangles with her fingers as she addresses her subordinates in the Devil Star.

The formidable captain rises from her seat with her back to the camera (wow, what a rear!).

A junior Masked Assassin who dares to show up late is promptly punished. Joe witnesses this in his rear view mirror, but the penny doesn't drop.

Another intense and brooding stare from the mysterious woman captain.

All smiles and affability, "Anderson's secretary" greets Nambu at the station.

Night certainly falls very suddenly in Utoland! Oh, wait - it was a Foreboding Moment.

The Galactor woman captain seems to recognize Ken. She asks Nambu who "that young man" is.

The captain contacts her assassins to move in for the kill.

And the planes leave the mothership. (Nifty little machines, ain't they?)

Ken spots them and gets bopped on the head for his trouble.

Not in fact the end for Ken; she shoots a hole in the train instead.

See? He's alive and well and being kicked off a riding train.

And doesn't she look innocent about it. Say bye-bye to Ken now...

Then, back to the business in hand:

Making conversation with Nambu. And letting him know that his end is near. (Notice a little animation goof in the second pic - it's as if her head is growing out of a vase.)

This is pure Katze.

Three shots of declining artistic quality, the centre one seeming to support the theory that BK is indeed modelled on BB (Brigitte Bardot, a theory put forward by a fan called Brechje on the Gatchaman mailing list).

When the lights came back on in the train, Ken was sitting where Nambu sat before - and now he and Katze are suddenly on top of the train. This falls under "plot holes".

That horribly nasty smile I adore so much.

She reaches up for her collar to rip off her disguise (or what passes as such) and - um. I think someone's had too much coffee.

Lastly: two animated gifs (linked to separately so they don't slow the loading of the page; press the "back" button on the browser to return to this page) showing the "ripping off the disguise" scene, or rather the putting on of a uniform over the disguise (unless she was wearing a second pink turtleneck under the first one) and the Galactor captain's physical prowess as she jumps backwards over a train seat (kids, don't try this at home) to evade the Eagle.

The woman captain gracefully jumps up (obeying the Anime Law of Physics about anime characters and jumping great heights with no effort) to the Devil Star and disappears inside in the same way Katze usually does - hint, hint.
